Join us on select Saturdays each month for a contemporary twist on history!
All events are free of charge for both student and parent. While younger siblings are welcomed to attend, activities are geared for ages 8 to 17.
All events start promptly at 1pm. Please be on-time.
If no registrations have been made by the Friday before the event, it will be cancelled.

February 11, 2017 – Pokemon Wars
Learn about the Central Powers and Allies of WWI – think about which Pokémon each side would have used to fight. Bring your Pokémon Go device and join us for a battle. Participants will be split up in teams and will hunt the VMI parade grounds for Pokémon. The team that captures the most Pokémon in the given time wins!

April 8, 2017 – Poppy Paint Party
Learn how the poppy came to symbolize WWI and paint your own floral masterpiece. No painting experience is necessary but please wear clothing you do not mind getting messy.

May 13, 2017 – War Animals
Discover the role that a variety of animals played during WWI and WWII through photos and artifacts. Movie & popcorn in the Pogue Auditorium.

June 10, 2017 – Game Day
General Marshall was often thinking three steps ahead when it came to the Army. This month we will explore strategic thinking with a game day! Risk, Chess, Ticket to Ride, and other strategy games will be available to play!

July 29, 2017 – Marshall the Wizard
Our most popular Discovery Day! George Marshall was called the Wizard of WWI. Another famous wizard celebrates his birthday this month! Come dressed in your favorite Hogwarts’ house colors, play Quidditch, and identify Muggle artifacts.
