Sound (English), b&w, 10 minutes. At the time of the making of the film, farm cooperatives were considered a major factor in keeping down the cost of living. In 1921, American farmers began their first cooperative enterprise. Starting with fertilizer, they were so successful that cooperatives increased in scope and number to include electrification schemes, farm equipment manufacture, gasoline production, retailing, and housing. No date given; probably produced between 1948-54. This is a re-edited version of the film WHAT IS A CO-OP?, by the Cooperative League of the U.S.A. New World Productions, New York, for the Labor Information Division of MSA/SRE.
