To Major Aristides Moreno1

December 21, 1923 Washington, D.C.

My dear Moreno:

Herewith is my copy of the page proof of the First Army Report. Under our arrangement you were to enter the proposed changes to the page proof on your copy. There have been so many changes and corrections that I have had to make, that I wish you would let me see yours after you have the proof ready to go to Leavenworth. Otherwise, it should be returned here, because I cannot take any chance on some mistake going through. You might misunderstand my proposed changes, etc. You will notice quite an alteration in Appendix D. These, if you will remember, were to be carefully checked at Leavenworth, but you will notice that they not only omitted a whole page of copy, but also they printed in the Index with the old page references. I have straightened this out so that I think you will understand how it is to be finished up.

Do you think it safe to have this printed without another re-check? I would hate to have another delay, but unless we can be very certain of a careful re-check at Leavenworth, I hesitate to commit myself to the final printing. Another thing, as I did not have the last corrected galley proof I could not check the changes thereon proposed. I do not believe you have this either.

Faithfully yours,

Marshall
